This collection contains 286 slides documenting David Katz's military service as a helicopter pilot in Vietnam. The materials are dated 1967-1968.
Biographical / Historical
Chief Warrant Officer 3 David R. Katz was born in 1945 in San Antonio, Texas. He volunteered for U.S. Army service in Vietnam in 1966. He served for a total of 11 years - 2 of which were in Southeast Asia. His units of assignment were Company A, 9th Aviation Battalion, 9th Division from 1967-1968 and 144 RR (Radio Research) from 1970-1971. CW3 Katz held the following positions during the Vietnam War: Rotary Wing Pilot from 1967-1968 and Dual Rated Pilot (U-8 IP) from 1970-1971. He was stationed at Bearcat from 1967-1968 and Nha Trang from 1970-1971. He was involved with the Tet Offensive in 1968.

After his military service in Vietnam, CW3 Katz remained in the U.S. Army for 6 years. He was discharged in 1977. After leaving the military, he worked in various logistics positions.
