The collection consists of artifacts, slides, and a map documenting Dale Dobesh's service as a helicopter pilot in Vietnam. The materials are dated 1968 or are otherwise undated.

Biographical / Historical

CWO Dale Dobesh was born in Mankato, Minnesota in 1943. He was drafted to the Army in January 1966. The years of his military service in Vietnam date back to April 1967 - April 1968 and in Southeast Asia – from January 1966 to December 1969. The Units of his assignment were HHC, 3rd Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division. The positions he held during the Vietnam War were Helicopter Pilot, Command & Control Pilot, and Scout Pilot. He was stationed in I Corp. The ranks he held throughout Southeast Asia were WO1 – WO2. Most memorable major event for CWO Dale Dobesh was his involvement in the TET Offensive in 1968.

Awards and citations received for his service in Vietnam are the following: 2-DFC, BS, Air Medal with V”, Army Commendation with V”, Purple Heart.

Dale Dobesh was discharged in 1969, with the rank - CWO 2.
