Scope and Contents

The collection consists of less than a quarter of a linear foot of materials documenting Michael Turjanica's U.S. Army service in Vietnam. The materials include artifacts; photographs and images; an ID card; service records; certificates; security clearance forms; military orders; and correspondence. The materials are dated predominately 1954-1955, 1960-1967, and 1974.

Biographical / Historical

Michael Turjanica was born 31 December 1936 in New York City, NY. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on 15 February 1954. He served with various units including the 34th Infantry Regiment and the 97th Signal Battalion. He received numerous awards including the Bronze Star and the Silver Star. He retired from active duty on 28 February 1974 at the rank of Sergeant First Class. He died at his home in Orange Park, FL on 5 January 2004.
