Scope and Contents

Approximately half of a linear foot of materials documenting Chief Warrant Officer Cecil Harman Wilt's U.S. Army service as a helicopter pilot in Vietnam. The materials include artifacts; flyers and pamphlets; manuals; award citations and certificates; photographs; correspondence; newsletters; and website printouts. The materials are dated 1967-1978, 1989-1995, 2000-2006, and 2016.

Biographical / Historical

Cecil Harman Wilt was born in Rowlesburg, WV in 1942. He volunteered from Cleveland, OH in 1960 and served in the United States Army for 20 years. Cecil served 2 years in Southeast Asia. During his service in Vietnam, he was stationed in Mekong Delta and Phim Vinh Soc Trang as a Helicopter Pilot for gunships and the movement of troops and supplies. Throughout his service in Southeast Asia, he was a Chief Warrant Officer 1 and 2. Cecil received various awards and citations such as a Distinguished Flying Cross, an Air Medal, and a Bronze Star. In 1980 he retired as a Chief Warrant Officer 4. After his service he worked at Federal Civil Service as an instructor for the flight simulations office in Fort Bragg, NC. Cecil was a lifetime member of the Vietnam Helicopter Pilots Association.
