Scope and Contents

The collection consists of approximately 0.75 linear feet of materials accumulated by Karen Gottschang Turner during her research for her book Even the Women Must Fight: Memories of War from North Vietnam. The book was coauthored by Phan Thanh Hao and many of the materials originated from him. The materials include Vietnamese or English-translated documents such as memoirs, field reports from the Ho Chi Minh Trail, booklets, histories; and fiction manuscripts; interviews with David Thomas, John Prados, Marilyn Young, and others (including an extensive interview with a woman from Hanoi who worked in a munitions factory during the war); watercolor paintings by Nguyen Ngoc Tuan from the Ho Chi Minh Trail; and a copy of Turner and Hao's book. The materials are dated 1965-1998.
