The collection consists of less than a quarter of a linear foot of materials documenting Captain George Carroll's service as a pilot with Air America stationed at Udorn, Thailand from 1965-1967. The materials include clippings and personal recollections. The materials are dated 2019 or are otherwise undated.
Biographical / Historical
Captain George W. Carroll was born February 16, 1939. He joined Air America in 1965 and served for two years as an H-34 helicopter pilot stationed at Udorn, Thailand. He supported U.S. military objectives in Southeast Asia including search and rescue of downed U.S. pilots in Laos and North Vietnam. He received numerous awards including CIA and Presidential commendations. He retired from service in 1967 at the rank of Captain. After his service, Captain Carroll continued to fly helicopters and worked on building Port Valdez in Alaska.
