Scope and Contents
The collection consists of one diary documenting Colonel Rodney Leland Martin's USAF service as an F-4C pilot at Danang AFB from October 1966 to August 1967. Also included is a flash drive containing the digitized contents of the diary, definitions and information regarding the contents of the diary, and a digital copy of Colonel Martin's Distinguished Flying Cross award citation.
Biographical / Historical
Colonel Rodney Leland Martin was born May 11, 1942. He joined the USAF and graduated from the Air Force Academy in June 1964. He served as an F-4C pilot stationed at Danang AFB between October 1966 and August 1967, during which time he flew 143 missions over Southeast Asia and 100 missions over North Vietnam. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and two Air Medals. He retired from the USAF in October 1987 at the rank of Colonel. Following his military service, he worked as a missile test engineer for Raytheon.
