The collection consists of one copy of My Purple Heart by Frank Taylor.
Biographical / Historical
Sergeant Frank E. Taylor was born in 1942 in Sheffield, AL. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1966, where he served for two years. He served as a rifleman and radio telephone operator with 1st Platoon, B Company, 5th Battalion, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division (Airmobile) stationed at An Khe from September to November 1966. He was involved in Operation Irving in Binh Dinh Province in 1966. He was wounded and sent to the 249th General Hospital, where he stayed from December 1966 to April 1967. He received the Purple Heart. He was then sent to HHC at Ft. Gordon, GA, where he served from May 1967 to March 1968. He was honorably discharged in 1968 at the rank of Sergeant. After his military service, he worked as a forester for a forest products company.
