The collection consists of letters written by Corporal Robert Melore to his girlfriend Deborah Williams (nee Hollander) while completing USMC basic training at Camp Lejeune and Parris Island from 1964-1965.
Biographical / Historical
Corporal Robert J. Melore was born May 17, 1946. He grew up in Massapequa, NY. He volunteered for the USMC in 1964. After his military service, he worked as a high school principal.
