Scope and Contents

The collection consists of approximately half of a linear foot of materials documenting Captain Adolph Louis Plank's USMC service during the Korean War and the Vietnam War - including his service with Marine Aircraft Maintenance Squadron 27, Marine Wing Service Group 27, 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing, Field Marine Force Atlantic, Marine Corps Air Station in Cherry Point, NC and Headquarters and Maintenance Squadron 30, Marine Helicopter Training Group 30, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, Field Marine Force Pacific, Marine Corps Air Facility in Santa Ana, CA. The materials include photographs and images; artifacts; service records; newsletters; flyers and pamphlets; military orders; letters of commendation; memos and correspondence; travel vouchers; and certificates. The materials are dated predominately 1948-1978 and 1991-1995.

Biographical / Historical

Captain Adolph Louis Plank was born July 20, 1929 in Chicago, IL. He volunteered for the USMC in 1948, where he served for 21 years. He served during both the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged from active duty in 1969, but continued to serve as a reservist until his military retirement in 1978. He died November 24, 1995.
