The collection consists of approximately half of a linear foot of materials documenting Colonel James Theodore Bushong's U.S. Army career, including his service as a Chemical Corps Officer with the 2nd Brigade, 1st Infantry Division where he worked to remove Viet Cong from the tunnels at Cu Chi from 1966-1967. The materials include slides; photographs; service records; military orders; award citations; certificates; financial records; memos and correspondence; letters of commendation and appreciation; academic reports; evaluations; applications; clippings and excerpts; and a newsletter. The materials are dated predominately 1960-1988.Biographical / Historical
Colonel James Theodore Bushong was born June 30, 1939. He served in the U.S. Army as a Chemical Corps Officer with the 2nd Brigade, 1st Infantry Division where he worked to remove Viet Cong from the tunnels at Cu Chi from 1966-1967. He also later worked as a Personnel Management Officer, managing Chemical and Ordnance Officers. He received numerous awards including the Bronze Star.- 1
