Captain Michael R. Davison was born 8 October 1944 in Modesto, CA. He volunteered for the USAF in 1967. He served as a McDonald-Douglas F-4D weapons systems operator with the 433rd Tactical Fighter Squadron (Satan's Angels) at Ubon Royal Thai Airforce Base from September 1968 to September 1969 and the 525th Tactical Fighter Squadron (Bulldogs) at Bitburg, Germany from October 1969 to February 1972. He participated in developing tactics for delivery of the first laser-guided bombs in the war (750 pounders initially, then the much more successful 2000 pound version).
