Scope and Contents
The collection consists of approximately half of a linear foot of materials documenting Private Paul Jordan's U.S. Army service as a radar repairman with the 5th Light Equipment Maintenance Company stationed at Bearcat Base near Bien Hoa from 1968-1969. The materials include photographs; artifacts; a book; an award authorization form; a PTSD worksheet; correspondence; and ephemera. The materials are dated 1968-1971 and 1994-2001.
Biographical / Historical
Private Paul Scott Jordan was born in 1950 in Bakersfield, CA. His parents insisted that he enlist in the U.S. Army, which he did in 1967. He served as a radar repairman with the 5th Light Equipment Maintenance Company stationed at Bearcat Base near Bien Hoa from 1968-1969. He also provided combat support for C-130 cargo at the base. He participated in Operation Cochise Green. He was honorably discharged in 1971. After his military service, he worked as a bouncer and body guard in Miami, FL. He also spent time in South America, which included working as a soldier for hire fightng against various dictatorships in the region as well as charitable work in Barranquilla, Columbia helping the poor and building houses.
