A short biography, photographs, poetry, articles, a small United States flag and additional materials document Michael Schafernocker's service in the United States Navy in Vietnam from 1968-1969 as a member of the Seawolves, which patrolled the Mekong Delta and flew cover for PBR's, special forces, and SEAL teams.Biographical / Historical
Michael Schafernocker joined the United States Navy in 1967. He served in Vietnam from July 1968 until his death on April 28, 1969. His helicopter (Seawolves) was shot down over Cambodia after it took direct hits from automatic weapon fire. Dorothy Schafernocker, Michael's mother, is a Gold Star Mother who has continued to assist Vietnam veterans in the post war period.- 1
