Scope and Contents
Over three linear feet of slides, audio tapes, and CD-Roms (four pertain to the 9th Infantry Division and one contains Bob Hope audio files) document Kasper's experience with the 9th Infantry Division.
Biographical / Historical
Paul Kasper was born in 1948 in Elyria, Ohio. In 1965, he volunteered for the United States Army and served a total of six years before being discharged in 1971. One of the years was spent in Southeast Asia in III and IV Corps (1967-1968), where Kasper served with the 9th Infantry Division Mobile Riverine Force (MRF) as a Specialist Four, working in demolitions and with the flamethrower. He was involved in both Operation Junction City and the Tet Offensive of 1968 and received the following medals/citations: the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Solidarity Campaign, a Purple Heart, a Bronze Star, and the Combat Infantryman's Badge. After being discharged in 1971, Kasper joined the American Red Cross and later became a police officer. He is a member of the following veterans' organizations: Vietnam Veterans of America Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans, Silver Rose, the 9th Infantry Division Society and the Mobile Riverine Force Association.
