Scope and Contents
Less than one-quarter linear foot of correspondence to the Dodd family, mostly to his wife, Nancy Elizabeth Dodd, in Lubbock, Texas, document Eddie L. Dodd's service during two tours in Vietnam. Dodd served in 1969 with the 111th Engineer Company (W.S.) and 1970-1971 with HHC, 20th Engineer Battalion. All letters are from the war era (1969-1971) and give insight into the daily life of one soldier; in early October 1969 the letters include Dodd's response to the birth of his son.

Eddie Leroy Dodd was killed in action on March 25, 1971, and the collection also includes telegrams, newspaper clippings and memorial programs related to his death and memorial service in Lubbock, Texas.
