Scope and Contents
Less than one linear foot of slides, photos, museum objects, military administrative documents, and various versions of his Vietnam diary and his book document Lieutenant Colonel Ray Janes, Jr.'s during his 1969 year of service in Vietnam as a Forward Air Controller (FAC) in the U.S. Air Force.
Biographical / Historical
Lieutenant Colonel Ray Janes, Jr. served as a pilot in the Air Force in the Vietnam War from January 1969 to December 1969. During this time, he served with the 1/9th Air Cavalry Squadron and the 23rd Tactical Air Support Squadron. His primary mission was to pilot missions over the Ho Chi Minh Trail complex as a Forward Air Controller (FAC). Following the war he became a member of the Forward Air Controller Association.
