Scope and Contents
Material related to Mr. Kothmann's military service during and after the Vietnam War. While in Vietnam (1968-1969) he served with the 60th Ordnance Company, 3rd Ordnance Battalion in Long Binh. Materials include documents, letters, and descriptive narratives of his Vietnam tour-of-duty; information on MIA Curtis Richard Smoot; and incidents involving the Veterans Administration.
Biographical / Historical
Kenneth B. Kothmann (6 November 1947 - 13 December 2024) joined the United States Army on 14 December 1966 and served in Vietnam in 1968-1969 with the 60th Ordnance Company, 3rd Ordnance Battalion in Long Binh.

During his Vietnam service, Mr. Kothmann earned the National Defense Service Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Vietnam Service Medal with four Bronze Service Stars Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and Expert Rifle.

He was honorably discharged from the United States Army on 13 December 1972 with the rank of Sergeant.
