Scope and Contents

The collection consists of approximately four linear feet of documents, artifacts, and image files documenting Nevin Williams' experience in Vietnam. The materials include digital photograph files on CD-Rom that document Nevin Roger Williams's service in the U.S. Army. The images depict Cu Chi and Saigon, 1967; 18th Military Police Brigade, 1967-1968; and MACV Advisory Team 45 in Ninh Thuan Province, 1970-1971. The collection also contains books and periodicals accumulated by Williams.

Biographical / Historical

Colonel (then Major) Williams began his first Vietnam tour with the 25th Infantry Division at Cu Chi in 1967. In June 1967 he was re-assigned to Headquarters, 18th Military Police Brigade at Long Binh, where he served as Physical Security Officer and Infantry Liaison Officer. In his role as Infantry Liaison Officer, Major Williams had the opportunity to visit all of the seven infantry companies assigned to the Brigade, including those in the II Corps Tactical Zone. Major Williams completed this tour shortly after the battles of TET 1968.

On his second tour in Vietnam, from May 1970 to May 1971, Major Williams served as Senior Regional Forces/Popular Forces (RF/PF) Advisor and Team Operations Officer of MACV Advisory Team 45, located in Phan Rang City, Ninh Thuan Province.

Colonel Williams retired from the U. S. Army Reserve in 1994 with over 40 years service.
