Scope and Contents
This collection consists of 24 recorded letters from Dale Fillmore to his family during his two tours in Vietnam, 1967-1968 (Co. B, 229th Battalion (Assault Helicopter)) and 1970-1971 (242nd Aviation Company). The collection also contains approximately 1.5 linear feet of slides and letters home donated by Dale Fillmore. The letters were written during Fillmore's army basic training at Fort Polk, Primary Helicopter School at Fort Wolters, Advanced Helicopter School at Fort Rucker, and his two tours in Vietnam (1967-1968 and 1970-1971). The materials are dated 1966-1971.Biographical / Historical
Dale Fillmore served two tours of duty in Vietnam. He served in 1967-1968 with the Company B, 229th Battalion (Assault Helicopter), 1st Cavalry Division as a communications officer, and then in 1970-1971 with the 242nd Aviation Company in Cu Chi.- 24
