Biographical / Historical
From author's note: Andre Nguyen Van Chau was born in the Citadel of Hue, the old capital of Imperial Vietnam. He wrote and produced plays, translated books, and went to Paris, where he obtained a doctorate degree at the Sorbonne. He was a professor of literature and creative writing in various universities in Vietnam. In 1975, he ended up as a refugee in the US and began a twenty-five year career working with refugees. As the CEO of a large international agency serving the refugees and migrants worldwide, with headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, he traveled to more than sixty countries around the world. While traveling, he started to take notes for what would become three books in English, all published by American Book Publishing. A Lifetime in the Eye of a Storm, a biography was completed in 1999 in Switzerland where Andre Van Chau lived from 1988 to 2000 with his Spanish wife Sagrario and their two children: daughter Boi-Lan and son Francis-Xavier. Francis-Xavier was named after the eldest son of the protagonist of the biography, Archbishop F. X. Nguyen Van Thuan, President of the Pontifical Council 'Justice and Peace' in the Vatican.
