Scope and Contents

Slides, spreadsheet of captions, newspaper clippings, photocopy of plaque, Viet Cong chopsticks, DD-214, photographs, and 'It Was a Bad Day to Fly' an account of an air drop mission, document Water's tour as a C-7A pilot. The slides were taken from March 1967-March 1968 during Lt. Dudley F. "Lee" Water's tour as a C-7A pilot flying supply missions out of Vung Tau Air Base, located north of the Mekong Delta.

Captions were provided for all of the slides. The photographs are of the 25th Flight Order of Daedalinas newsletter, February 2004. The photocopied plaque was awarded to Dudley Waters. 'It was a Bad Day to Fly' is an account of a personnel airdrop mission Waters flew in the early 1970s, written for submission to the local pilot's (Daedalian) organization at McDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida. Additional items include newspaper clippings, and a sanitized photocopy of Dudley Waters DD-214.

Biographical / Historical

Lt. Dudley F. "Lee" Waters was a C-7A Caribou pilot who served with the 535th Tactical Airlift Squadron at Vung Tau Air Base, Vietnam, from March 1967-March 1968. The main mission of the 535th TAS was to provide supplies and support for the 5th Special Forces camps in II Corps.
