Scope and Contents
Just less than a linear foot of daily officer logs, books, after action reports, patrol operations and schedules document the service of Co. F 51st Long Range Patrol (Airborne) Infantry. Co. F (LRP) 51st Infantry was first commissioned at Camp Eagle, 20 November 1968, was deactivated in 1969 and its members were transferred to L Company, 75th Rangers. Materials are from 1967-1969.
Biographical / Historical
Mr. Hall served as an Army sergeant in Vietnam in 1967 and was a member of Company F, 51st Long Range Patrol (Airborne) Infantry. His units served far behind enemy lines, providing intelligence on enemy positions. Mr. Hall wrote the book, 'I Served,' about his experiences and was instrumental in the documentary about his unit, 'Silent Victory: the Story of Co. F, 51st Long Range Patrol (Airborne) Infantry,' which aired in 2000. The documentary won a Bronze award (from over 11,000 entries) in the 22nd Telly Awards.
