Scope and Contents
Two copies of The Phantom of Ben Het, by John D. Lamerson, computer printed photographs, and a missing manuscript chapter from the volume, all document Lamerson's perspective on the Siege of Ben Het, a battle in which he participated in 1969. The book was published in 2001. Both copies are signed by the author.
Biographical / Historical
John D. Lamerson served for twenty-two years in three branches of the military. Born in Mancelona, Michigan, Lamerson joined the Michigan National Guard while still in high school. When the Korean War began, he transferred to the United States Air Force. After an honorable discharge in 1954, he enlisted in the United States Army, where he served as an artilleryman. He retired a Master Sergeant in 1972 at Fort Carson, Colorado. He resides with his wife Mavis in the Colorado Springs area.
