On 17 September 1967, Battery B, 2nd Battalion, 320th Artillery, 1st Brigade, 101st Airborne Division moved to the high ground near Tam Ky to establish a base of operations and provide 105mm supporting fires for the 2nd Battalion, 327th Infantry of the 10st Airborne Division. The UH1C was shot down near Tan An City. There were no injuries and all personnel were safely evacuated.
