When the male officers showered in the morning, hte maids refused to leave while they were washing our clothes. Dawn 28 Oct 1970, Seattle-Tacoma Airport, back in the world at last. I returned to the United States in jungle fatigues as did the other soldiers. At the Seattle airport I changed into civilian clothes that were wet from heavy rains in Cam Ranh Bay. It cost more to fly in civies but it was worth it just getting out of thsoe damn jungle fatigues.

During the monsoon season, the Vietnamese workers in the laundry, dried the clothing over water buffalo chip fires so our clothing smelled like shit. During the monsoon nothing dried.
