CHU LAI, Vietnam (Americal IO)--After the initial stops of constructing a Bailey Bridge have been taken, construction moves ahead quickly as men of the Americal Division's 26th Engineer Battalion unload double sections of bridge with the help of a truck-mounted crane. The bridge was constructed to repair a bridge near An Tan village partially destroyed by Viet Cong sappers.

The engineers were clearing land around the village to provide more farm land and better fields of fire for defense of the village.

LZ West, Vietnam (Americal IO)--SOAP DAY AT SON HOA. Women and children of Son Hoa village, about 20 miles northwest of Tam Ky, cluster to accept gifts of soap and candy from an Americal Division medic, Sgt. Roderick Taylor, St. Louis. Medics from the 196th Infantry Brigade's 4th Battalion, 31st Infantry give out soap to Vietnamese women and treat minor illnesses every day of the week but Sunday.

QUANG NGAI, Vietnam (Americal IO)--Vietnamese workers are beating a shock of rice against a rack to separate the rice from the stock. The harvesters are experiencing a bountiful harvest in the Quang Ngai Province, part of the 11th Infantry Brigade, Americal Division area of operation. The harvests increased yields are accounted for by the stepped up pacification effort of the Americal.
