Continuation of interview with Mrs. Donna Moore, the Crafts Director at Fort Shafter
Audio Item Number: 1054AU0810
18 November 1970 Subject: An interview with Mrs. Donna Moore, the Crafts Director at Fort Shafter. Location: Fort Shafter, Hawaii A continuation of the interview with Mrs. Donna Moore, Director of the Craft Shop Mrs. Moore continues her discussion of the popularity of pottery. She also states that they hire nice young ladies to entice the military men to their programs. She discusses the different pottery classes offered and a description of the glazing and mold pouring processes. She then mentioned the graphic arts printmaking class. Most of the supplies for classes are provided, but basic supplies are not. The shop averages between one hundred and 120 people nightly, again increasing during the Christmas season. Mrs. Moore mentions the candle-making, jewelry, leatherwork, garment making classes and describes them briefly. Mrs. Moore mentions the children's programs that the craft shop offers, and a summer program that includes tours to local places of interest. She says the craft shop tried to keep the military population informed of local art activities and discusses future ideas to incorporate into the craft shop. Mrs. Moore says the primary goal of the shop is to provide a place of recreation and a place for people to enjoy themselves and make something for which they can be proud.

Audio Letter from parents at home, recorded March 27 & April 4, 1971 TO SP5 Jolliff while overseas
Audio Item Number: 1054AU0804
The tape begins with sisters, Susan and Sara Beth, playing the piano and singing Grand Old Flag. This is followed by a discussion of how much time is left in school. Mr. Jolliff's mother gives an account of family and friends. Susan talks about being sick. Several questions are asked about his various duty stations and description of the news drapes in the living room is given. His father discusses events happening at work, and mentions his plans for George's car. They try to get the dog to talk and then Susan discusses a movie they went to see, Easter clothing, and various other stories. His mother mentions that Sara Beth baptized at church that morning and they were all very proud of her. Susan was disappointed because she didn't get to enter the church, but she was still well behaved while Sara was going through the ceremony. His mother finishes the tape by telling George to keep her updated about his various girlfriends and then they all say good-bye.
