After being shot in the leg, LT Ronald Baker, XO, Company B, 1st Battalion, 69th Armor, 25th Infantry Division receives medical treatment. He will be medically evacuated by helicopter.

The Operation Thayer II mission was to clear and pacify the Binh Dinh Province. From 6-7 February 1967, Company A, 1st Battalion, 5th Cavalry, 1st Cavalry Division conducted search and destroy missions in and around the An Loa Valley. The terrain was known for its mountains and caves. During one of their mountain side searches, the unit captured three Viet Cong who were living and hiding inside a cave. French freelance correspondent, Michelle Ray, was reported missing and possibly captured around 17 January 1967. Ray was captured by the Viet Cong during a long automobile drive. She was released by the Viet Cong and turned up at the 1st Cavalry Division's area of operation February 6, 1967. Michelle Ray dressed in traditional Vietnamese clothing and hat.
