The label on the photograph reads, "Increasing protein production is an important goal of Vietnam's new five-year agricultural development plan. The first stage of the program, ending in December 1971, should see a 15 percent increase in poultry stocks. These hens are the offspring of hybrids imported from the United States, Japan, and the Philippines. Vietnam now has 50 hatcheries producing 150,000 day-old chicks per week.
