Jones Construction Co., Inc.) put together by the United States Navy during the Vietnam War to build critically needed infrastructure in South Vietnam so that the U.S. could escalate the introduction of American combat troops and materiel into Vietnam. This construction contract, amounting to $1.9 billion, completed a construction program deemed to be the largest in history up to that time.

Over the ten-year life of the contract, RMK-BRJ trained 200,000 Vietnamese workers in construction and administrative trades. The use of a civilian contractor and construction force in an active theater of combat operations was authorized for the first time in U.S. history.

Robert C. Laymon Collection (1554) Finding Aid
Two Super 8mm home movies filmed by Robert C. Laymon of Vietnam and Thailand, September 1971 - September 1972. The footage includes Nguyen Van Thieu's flight aboard a T-39A Sabreliner from Tan Son Nhut to Phu Cat on 30 May 1972 and John Paul Vann, nine days before his death on 9 June 1972. CD contains a BBC interview with Bob Laymon and a CBC Podcast Report, both in August 2010, concerning the late Air Force General John D. Lavelle and his forced retirement and demotion to Major General following accusations in 1972 that he allowed unauthorized bombing missions in North Vietnam. President Barack Obama recommended to the United States Senate that Lavelle be posthumously restored to the rank of General following revelations from declassified Nixon tapes that he was falsely accused.
