The Douglas Pike Collection: Indochina Archive consists of 234.15 linear feet of documents; one artifact, a Friend Shipment, Friendship People-to-People, Aid to Vietnam button; and 425 books collected by Professor Douglas Eugene Pike (July 27, 1924-May 13, 2002) who served as the director of University of California, Berkeley’s Indochina Studies from 1982-1996. The 234.15 linear feet of documents primarily consist of newspaper clippings and periodicals, covering political, social, and economical issues of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (DRV), a.k.a. North Vietnam, and later the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (SRV), present day Vietnam, from 1929-2001, with the bulk being from the mid 1960s-1980s. The clippings deal with a large variety of topics, ranging from foreign relations, economy, armed forces, legal issues, ethnic groups, refugees, to reeducation.

Twenty five isssues of 'The Catalyst' donated to the Vietnam Archive by Charles Adams. 'The Catalyst' was an underground newspaper printed by Texas Tech Students to support the local liberal/radical scene. The newspaper covered issues such as the war in Vietnam, student protests, racism and civil rights, women's rights, homosexuality and the governance and faculty of Texas Tech University. The paper also featured political cartoons, movie and music reviews and local editorials and advertisements. Issues available are dated 1969 to 1971.

Book 'Journey Back From Vietnam: One Soldier's Long Road Home From War' written by Wayne Purinton. The book is about Purinton's service in Vietnam and his recovery efforts from PTSD and humanitarian efforts educating children in Vietnam.

Also contains approximately .5 linear foot of correspondence from Wayne Purinton to his family at home. The majority of the letters are addressed to his parents; however, some are to his brothers, Chuck, Ron and Eddie. Contained in the letters are a homemade Mother's day card Purinton sent, as well as a description of the start of Operation Pershing. Wayne Purinton was in Vietnam with C Company, 5th Battalion, 7th Cavalry from April 1967 to March, 1968.

Seven maps of Northern Laos and I Corps, loose pages filled with notes and magic words used by Terry Presgrove in his duties as a forward observer from August 1968 to July 1969. There is also a handmade notebook and some loose pages containing Vietnamese writing, a typed page listing the operations that Presgrove participated in from November 1968 to July 1969 and a sheet from the 3rd Medical Battalion detailing the treatment given to Presgrove when he was wounded on February 23, 1969.

Less than a quarter of a linear foot of manuscript material comprising a tribute book for USAF (United States Air Force) pilot Colonel Wayne Wolfkeil put together by Joe Parnar and Robert Dumont. The volume contains the story and images of Col. Wolfkeil, his crash in Laos, and the Bright Light SAR (Search and Rescue) operations undertaken by the SOG (Special Operations Group) personnel, including the one led by Sfc. George (Wilson) Hunt of Spike Team Maine that reached the crash site two weeks later. Also included are copies of the documents Mrs. Anne Wolfkeil received from the military regarding the search for her husband and his official MIA/KIA status; his biographical entry from the P.O.W. Network website, a letter his son David wrote about his father to a reporter for the Northwest Florida Daily News in 2010, and an article on Col. Wolfkeil by Gordie Jones appearing in Lancaster (PA) Online in 2013. Also included in the collection is a published book written by Jerry Krizan and Robert Dumont entitled 'Bac Si: A Green Beret Medic's War in Vietnam. The book is the story of Sergeant Jerry Krizan, a medic assigned to Special Forces Camp A-331 in the III Corps tactical zone, 10 miles from the Cambodian border.

The bulk of the correspondence is between Dan Siewart and his family and dates from 23 May 1966 through 02 November 1967. It includes Siewart's description of his training, military duties, recreational activities and his involvement in various combat situations near Da Nang and Con Thien. The letters also recount his recovery at a naval hospital in Guam after he was wounded in battle and correspondence between Siewart's parents and Representative George Mahon detailing the Siewart's request that Dan not be sent to Vietnam.

Approximately forty-nine linear feet of books, maps, audio tapes, CD-ROMS, and various documents concerning the American POW/MIA issue and South Vietnamese commandos who were captured during covert operations in North Vietnam. The collection is divided into eight series: Reports and Briefings, Collected Data, Assorted Documents, Legal Documents, Memoranda and Correspondence, Internal Administrative Documents, and Articles and Book Excerpts. The Reports and Briefings include reports to the Senate Select Committee on POW/MIA Affairs concerning the commandos as well as investigations on the role of the Defense Intelligence Agency in the matter. The remaining series discuss further evidence supporting the claim that the South Vietnamese Commandos and some American POW/MIAs were left behind in Vietnam.
