Gardiner, in reply, shows his appreciation for the opportunity to meet with Glen Taggart, Stanley Sheinbaum, and Leslie Fisher (Wesley Fishel).

In an article from a Michigan newspaper, Idaho Democratic Representative Frank Church, along with 21 other senators, call for an end to military and economic aid to South Vietnam unless it abandons its "policies of repression". This occurred the week after President Kennedy stated "it would not be helpful at this time" to reduce aid to South Vietnam President Diem's government. The article indicates that neither of Michigan's senators joined in the resolution.
