Over two linear feet of correspondence, photographs and slides, military administrative documents, award certificates, unpublished manuscripts, magazine clippings, video tapes and other material document the production of the documentary film project CO VAN: The American Military Advisor in Vietnam. Correspondence includes letters sent to Elliott by former advisors, including Generals Norman Schwartzkopf and Colin Powell, about possible participation in the film. Photographs and slides document a variety of military and humanitarian activities in Vietnam from 1963-1969 and a twentieth anniversary commemorative event honoring Southeast Asian allies held in 1995. Military administrative documents include Orders of Battle for MACV advisory teams in Southeast Asia from 1954 to 1975. Unpublished manuscripts include personal accounts written by advisors and ARVN officers about their experiences in Vietnam. Videotapes include titles ^D<'Return to Vietnam, Fall 1996,' a Vietnam television documentary, and other documentaries and feature films.

Approximately 18.5 linear feet of documents, pamphlets, newspaper clippings, press releases, books, photographs, a tourist brochure, periodicals, microforms and artifacts document various issues related to the Vietnam Conflict and the history of Indochina. Operational and intelligence reports, logistical and medical studies, Congressional hearings, political, economic and cultural materials, papers by individuals, groups and government contractors and educational items from American military schools make up the document collection. These materials are from both the war and post-war eras (1886-2004) and are in the following languages: English, Spanish, Vietnamese and French. Many documents are from the various arms of the US Military, the CIA, National Security Agency, State Department, British Foreign Office and Royal Navy, Republic of Vietnam Armed Forces and the Southeast Asia Treaty Organization. Highlights include documents on pacification, air interdiction of the Ho Chi Minh Trail, cryptology studies, intelligence material on French Indochina, the 1965 Battle of the Ia Drang, the 1968 Tet Offensive, the 1972 Easter Offensive, the 1973 de-mining of Hai Phong Harbor and media coverage of the Vietnam Conflict.

The collection also includes newspapers and official military documents like Daily Staff Journals, After Action Reports, Operation Reports - Lessons Learned, Periodical Intelligence Reports (PERINTREP), Province Reports, Command and Unit Histories, Organization Charts, Intelligence Reports, Situation Reports, MACV CORDS and pacification documents for various units and provinces throughout South Vietnam. The majority of these
documents are focused on the Tet Offensive and are dated June 1967 through August of 1968 with the bulk dates being January through February of 1968. Also included are interviews with battle participants and commanders, analysis of the battle and intelligence systems used from both military and academic sources, translations of analysis of the battle from North Vietnamese participants and scholars, and PAVN and PLAF unit histories.

The collection also includes audio recordings and notebooks. The cassette tapes feature recordings of base attacks, radio and TV news coverage of Tet 1968, and music. The notebooks have notes about various battles and important figures from the Tet Offensive of 1968. The materials date from 1968 to 1990 with the bulk dates being 1968 through 1969.

The collection consists of military administration documents, certificates, periodicals, photographs, and artifacts documenting Ronnie Lee Houston's military training and service in the United States Air Force in Phu Cat, Republic of Vietnam, and Bitberg, Germany from 1967 to 1985. Military administrative documents include orders Houston received to report to training schools, military assignments, and his 1969 commissioning orders. Other documents include promotions, officer effectiveness reports, a logbook, and a navigator school report card. Certificates in the collection document Houston's completion of several Air Force training programs in 1969 and 1970, his aeronautical rating of navigator in 1969, commendations such as the Distinguished Flying Cross, two Air Medals, and an Honorable Discharge in 1985. Photographs include images of Houston in Vietnam, an unidentified airplane cockpit identified as 'my office', photos from Houston's last flight in Vietnam, and a photograph of the 480th Tactical Fighter Squadron assembled on an F-4 Phantom fighter at Phu Cat, Vietnam, signed by the officers. Artifacts include a cotton flight suit worn by Houston, several patches worn on flight suits and other uniforms, a National Defense Service Medal, and a CPU-26/P Computer Air Navigation device.

The collection consists of interview tapes and transcripts/summaries as well as correspondence accumulated by Dr. Joseph Morgan during the course of his research for his books The Vietnam Lobby: The American Friends of Vietnam and Wesley Fishel and Vietnam: A Great and Tragic American Experiment. In researching materials for these books, Dr. Morgan interviewed or had correspondence with former members of the American Friends of Vietnam and members of the Michigan State University Group which Dr. Wesley Fishel organized in the 1950s.

Approximately eleven linear feet of personal and military documents from both the wartime and post-war periods, programs, newsletters, audio, periodicals, books, artifacts, photographs, and memorabilia documenting the actions of the Americal Division and reunions of the Americal Division Veterans Association. Included are materials dating from the 2004 Reno, Nevada reunion and the 2006 Portland, Oregon reunion. A sizable portion of the collection was donated by Leonid Kondratiuk. Donor Dr. Richard Burkes Verrone attended reunions on behalf of the Vietnam Center and Archive and included his nametag for the 2004 reunion and various other memorabilia.

The collection also includes a four disk DVD set consisting of a journal, audio clips, and documents that were presented at the Americal Division Albuquerque, New Mexico Reunion. It also includes a commemorative DVD honoring retired Lieutenant Colonel Charles S. Kettles (2 disc set).

The collection also includes a sizable compilation of Daily Staff Journals, After Action Reports, Combat Action Reports, and other S2/S3 Intelligence documents of various units and subunits of the 11th LIB, 196th LIB, and 198th BGE on the Battalion and Brigade level.

Unit 11, monographs, of the Douglas Pike Collection contains monographs covering a wide range of topics in Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand and the rest of Southeast Asia. The finding aid for this collection is divided into two sections each organizing the collection in a different way. The first section, documents, lists all of the monographs in order with a corresponding document number, providing the researcher easy access to the collection. An index, at the end of the documents section provides a list of key words and phrases that appear in the documents. The numbers in the index correspond to the document number. The second section, category, divides the collection into six distinctive categories and 55 subjects. The table of contents delineates the various categories. There has been some cross-referencing in the category section of the finding aid depending upon the content of the material. There are 12 linear feet of material in Unit 11 and approximately 1000 monographs. . The original collection also contained periodicals, newsletters and books all of which have been removed and placed in their proper location in the archive. The material is in fair to good condition.
