The documents include a roster of Navy chaplains for September 1970, a welcome booklet for the U.S. Naval Air Facility at Cam Ranh Bay, and two other booklets, one about the Navy in Vietnam and chaplains in Vietnam. Also included in the collection are copies of the Hai Quan (U.S. Navy) newspaper and the Sandpiper Familygram the newsletter of the U.S. Naval Air Facility at Cam Ranh Bay. The materials date from August 1970 through December 1971.

Also included in the collection are Department of State Airgrams and Telegrams describing the relations between the North Vietnamese and the Khmer Rouge in the early 1970s. Finally, there is also a copy of Colonel Millard A. Peck's letter of resignation from being Chief of the Special Office for Prisoners of War and Missing in Action (POW-MIA) in 1991 and an article from 'Soldier of Fortune' concerning the matter.

One linear foot of reports dealing primarily with topics on counterinsurgency and pacification document Vincent Puritano's service working with the United States State Department in Vietnam during the 1960s.

The collection also includes approximately two linear feet of documents, periodicals, maps, and books donated to the archive by Mr. Puritano's widow. The materials come from Puritano’s work with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in Vietnam in the early 1960’s where he was the Program Officer for the Office of Provincial Operations. The documents include reports, correspondence, and memos written by Puritano concerning budget expenditures, province operations, cadre development, and administration of the USAID program in Vietnam. The collection includes program budgets and annual reports, operations and organization manuals, and various instructional handbooks.

Items of note in the collection are a series of transcripts of debriefs of various parties working for AID to include senior administrators, province representatives, nurses, etc. The collection also includes an original hand colored copy of a report titled The Village Campaign or Vietnam Sociology of a War by Lieutenant Colonel Tran Ngoc Chau. The material is dated from 1950 through 1969 with the bulk of the material dating from 1960 through 1965.

The letters date from September 20, 1969 through October 27, 1969. The clipping is a notice of Smith's death.

Approximately four linear feet of DPMO files, correspondence, newsletters, and clippings document Freddie Joel Ransbottom's Vietnam War service with the Long Range Recon Platoon, Company E, 2nd Battalion, 1st Infantry, 196th Light Infantry Brigade, Americal Division in 1968 and the battle at Kham Duc on 11 May 1968 where he went missing in action (MIA) until his remains were discovered by the Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command (JPAC) in the Kham Duc area in March 2006. The clippings and newsletters relate to general POW/MIA issues as well as relating to Ransbottom's case. Also included in the collection are multiple volumes of 'Uncorrelated Information Relating to Missing Americans in Southeast Asia.'

The materials were gathered by Kurtzman while he was the director of the Washington, D.C. Strike Center set up by the National Student Association. Mr. Kurtzman was active in the anti-war movement and collected pamphlets on Vietnam War, chemical weapons, McCarthy campaign materials, materials about the Kent State shooting, including a letter written to Mr. Kurtzman with an eyewitness account by a photographer present at the shooting, calls for student/university strikes and sit ins, press releases, statements and papers put out by various student protest organizations in the Washington DC area, calls to action for America's youth to change the government, pamphlets and flyers inviting people to join various marches and peace rallies, information about the Roger Priest court martial for printing a protest newspaper

These materials cover four main subjects: MACV-SOG operations, the 1972 Easter Offensive, the Phoenix program and NAVY special operations like the Seal Team, and Underwater Demolition Teams (UTDs) and frogmen. Materials of note are MACV-SOG command histories 1964 - 1970; end of tour and monthly reports for various advisory teams; transcripts of interviews with battle participants from the 1972 Easter Offensive; After Action Reports for numerous battles; history of the Navy SEALS dating back to World War II; and training materials, reports and analysis of the Phoenix Program.

One copy of a document titled 'Sadec Province: War and Rebuilding on the Mekong' written by Gordon Bare. This document is a history of Sadec province in the central Mekong Delta drawing on published and archival material, interviews with Army and State Department officers who served there, and the author's own experience as a Lieutenant in 1969 to 1970 engaged in both Phoenix and economic development advisory work. He traces the contemporaneous emergence of both the Viet Minh and the staunchly anti-Communist Hoa Hao sect of Buddhism in the 1940's and the decline of security through 1967 when the Viet Cong had a major base area in Duc Ton District and substantial control of most of the province after dark. The high attrition which the VC experienced in Tet 1968, the expansion of the Regional and Popular force militia, and a smarter counterinsurgency strategy by the U. S. and Saigon led to major increases in security in 1969 through 1970, which in turn permitted

Harry Robertson Collection (2189) Finding Aid
Approximately seven linear feet of files concerning the crash of a C-5A Galaxy aircraft during Operation Babylift on 4 April 1975 near Saigon, during the closing days of the Vietnam War, killing 144 of the 301 passengers aboard. Most of those killed were Vietnamese orphans being airlifted out of Vietnam as this was the maiden voyage of Operation Babylift. The collection primarily contains court records and transcripts concerning the subsequent lawsuit filed by Friends For all Children, Inc. vs. Lockheed Aircraft Corporation contending that Lockheed, the manufacturer of the aircraft, was liable for the diagnostic examination costs of the children on board the flight. The organization of the collection follows the chronological order of the case. Box 1 contains the initial military investigations of the crash and the early consultations with the aviation exports for the law suit. Box 2 to Box 5 are the depositions and exhibitions from eyewitness, aviation exports, pediatricians, Lockheed Aircraft Corporation representatives, and etc. Box 6 and 7 are oversize boxes contain oversize deposition and technical reports.

Approximately half a linear foot of textual records documenting Clyde Romero's experience in the US Army's Warrant Officer flight training school. It includes the complete syllabus for the program, recruitement pamphlets, operational procedure guides, pilot's checklists, flight manuals, and a US Forces in Vietnam handbook. Also contains one museum object donated to the archive by Clyde Romero. The artifact is Romero's party suit containing the following patches: RF-4C, Voodoo one-to-wonder, 186th TAC Recon Group, Tatical Air Command, city of New York Police Department, Port Authority, Police New York New Jersey, 153rd TRS, and a red and white patch with a green helicopter holding a lightning rod.

The collection consists of 2.25 linear feet of military documents donated by the 3/5 Cavalry Black Knight's Association. The collection contains Operation Reports-Lessons Learned, Command Chronologies, order of battle information, senior officer debriefing reports, After Action Reports, histories of specific battles, Daily Staff Journals, Rosters, and Morning Reports. The materials pertain to the 3rd Battalion 5th Cavalry Black Knights’ service in Vietnam, as well as the service of other units including the 9th Infantry Division, 34th Engineer Group, 54th Artillery Group, 1st Cavalry, II Field Force Vietnam, 1st Air Cavalry, 101st Airborne, 1st Infantry Division, 5th Infantry Division, and 3rd Marine Division. The materials also pertain to operations taking place from 1967 through 1970 including Operations Kien Giang, Santa Fe, Akron, Rock, Houston, Worth, Tampa, Coronado, Greene River, and Task Force Kilo Phase I. The materials predominately date from 1966 through 1974.
